It was a question I tried to answer throughout my 3 years of running a barbering business.
I found the most dramatic results when I applied UX methods to my business.
To identify this, I conducted surveys and interviews.
After conducting user research to implement the right business decisions,
Some clients were willing to pay a higher price for haircuts outside of business hours.
They preferred Off Hour Haircuts over "On The Go" Haircuts where I would meet them at their dorm.
79% rated 5/5
21% rated 4/5
This lets me know to the haircuts are satisfactory, and I can focus my efforts elsewhere to reach my business goals
This lets me know that the booking system is effective, and I can focus my efforts elsewhere to reach my business goals.
Knowing that most of my clients are 3rd years from word of mouth marketing, I turned towards another marketing stream to attract new client groups. I leveraged positive quantitative and qualitative feedback from my surveys for marketing content. My current clients also commented their positive experience to establish trust with new clients. Talk about social proof.
I no longer had 2 hour gaps in my schedule and was able to reduce 4 days of business hours to 2 days while generating more revenue.
This project was an eye opening experience.
My existing clients loved the changes and my new clients told me they wished they found me earlier.
I had first hand experience with the effectiveness of design which furthered my aspirations as an entrepreneur, barber, and designer.
2 years later, I did similar work conducting Service Design at Accenture.
